The "Give It Up" High School Challenge

During the 2007-2008 school year the high schools in Kern County challenged one another to compete for the honor of being the school with the most blood donors for the year. Twenty- one schools participated with a total of 53 blood drives being held from Sept 1, 2007-April 28, 2008. This years challenge was a HUGE success, passing last years totals by 669 donors. Our High Schools donated 4,366 units of blood to our community. Thousands of lives were affected by the donations of our youth.
What An Amazing Group!!!!
The challenge ended on May 1st with an Appreciation luncheon held at the Holiday Inn Select. The two schools that won the challenge were North High School, donating 404 units of blood. North is a repeat winner of our challenge and had 76% of their senior class donate. The other winner was Boron High School, donating 48 units of blood. This was Boron's first year being a part of our high school blood drives, they had 137% of their senior class donate blood. Congratulations to both High Schools for a job well done.
